Question by Kayla: What flowering vine should I plant?
I live in zone 5-6, I want a quick growing vine with beautiful flowers. I have a chain fence that surrounds my vegetable garden. The fence is a bit over 5 feet high. What would be the best choice? I like sweet pea, trumpet, coral, clematis, and honeysuckle. Which out of those would be best suited? Thanks in advance
Yes, I want it to climb the fence. Wisteria was my first choice but because it’s so branchy and spreads so fast I was worried it would be too much for my chain fence to handle.

Best answer:

Answer by Shadetreee
IF you want it to climb the fence, Wisteria, has really pretty flowers. If you don’t want it to climb the fence, periwinkle is nice.

Question by Cassie: How Do You Start A Vegetable Garden?
This will only be my second year of vegetable gardening, before winter I worked so hard to get my last garden prepared for this year, but my mom just told me that I have to move my garden. I don’t remember how to restart a garden from scratch at all, can anyone please help?

Best answer:

Answer by ralf
That is a very long explanation but I will touch on the basics. First you may want to get a soil sample. Just take the sample to your local county extension agent for testing. Then you need to remove all grass from you new garden. The rototill the soil and add amendments to the soil with the tiller. If you don’t have a tiller then use a garden fork. Then plant your seeds or plants, water, and wait for you crops. Good luck to you on your new garden and here are some links that will give you all the details.

Question by preds1fan: how can i counteract the effect of charcoal left in my vegetable garden?
I dumped some charcoal in about a 4′ x 4′ area of my vegetable garden over the winter and now nothing will grow in that area. Are there any fixes other than replacing the dirt all together? It is a raised bed garden.

Best answer:

Answer by EgwaYona
It sounds as if your charcoal had some chemicals from petroleum products, as regular wood charcoal shoud add potash to the soil. Unless it is too deep? If it is a chemical thing as it sounds, you probably don’t want to grow anything edible in it anyway. I recommend digging it up and replacing the soil.
